Brother lists HGe, TZe, HSe, and STe as the compatible tape families for the PT-E560BTBP, in widths from 3.5 mm to 24 mm.[7] The current consumables list includes TZe-FX flexible ID tape in 6, 9, 12, 18, and 24 mm, strong-adhesive TZe-S, high-grade HGe, and HSe heat-shrink tubes.[9] For curved cable jackets, TZe-FX is the format that does most of the work.

The extra 5 mm of width is not a rounding difference. Brother’s printable height reaches 0.71 in against the M210’s 0.63 in, which is the difference between a comfortable two-line equipment label and a cramped one, and it gives cable flags more usable face.[8][3]

The self-laminating question

This one deserves care, because it is a common cable-ID format and the documentation does not line up.

Brady is unambiguous. Self-laminating vinyl wrap-around labels are a current M21 family listed for M210 and M211 printers.[6]

Brother is not. The current P-touch EDGE datasheet lists media for this printer family as HGe and TZe tapes, HSe heat shrink, STe stencil, and SLe self-laminating, and it lists Self-Laminate among the printer’s function keys.[8] The PT-E560BTBP product page, however, gives compatible tape families as HGe, TZe, HSe, and STe, and self-laminating stock does not appear in the consumables list we reviewed, which does include flexible ID, strong adhesive, stencil, and heat shrink.[7][9]

The printer appears to have a self-laminating function, but we cannot confirm a specific current US self-laminating part number for it from Brother’s own compatibility list. If self-laminating wraps are central to your work, either confirm the exact part number with Brother first, plan on TZe-FX flexible ID instead, or choose the M210, where the format is clearly documented. Heat-shrink workflow

Both printers do this job properly, and neither ecosystem wins on catalog size.

Brady’s PermaSleeve B-342 sleeves are 3:1 polyolefin. The 3/16 in part is supplied at 0.187 in and recovers to 0.062 in, is designed for 20 to 10 AWG conductors measuring 0.062 in to 0.15 in, and comes on a 7 ft cartridge with UL Recognition to UL 224 and SAE and MIL-STD test references.[5]

Brother’s HSe cassettes hold 1.5 m of tube and span both older 2:1 sizes and newer 3:1 sizes.[9] A current 3:1 example, HSE251EG, is a 21.0 mm supplied tube recommended for cables of 4.2 mm to 13.5 mm.[10]

Two practical points follow. First, cartridge length differs by more than a factor of one and a half, so cost per usable marker is the number to compute, not cost per cartridge. Second, tape width is not tube diameter. A printer that accepts 24 mm tape does not thereby fit a 24 mm cable. The M210 uses a manual straight cutter with label retention, so the cut label does not drop into a panel or onto a wet floor.[3] For a handful of labels, this is completely fine and arguably faster than waiting for a mechanism.

The PT-E560BT has an automatic full cutter and a half cutter, and Brother’s design intent is a printed strip of half-cut labels that peel individually.[7] On a long serialized run, that keeps the labels in order and keeps both hands free.
